Chapter 5 : Adjective

Definition:
An Adjective is a word that describes or qualifies a Noun or Pronoun. It tells us what kind, which one, or how many.

Easy Trick:
If a word gives more information about a Noun or Pronoun, it is an Adjective.

Types of Adjective

Type Meaning Example
Quality Shows quality Beautiful, Honest, Brave
Quantity Shows amount Some, Much, Little
Number Shows number or order One, Two, First
Demonstrative Points out a noun This, That, These, Those
Possessive Shows possession My, Your, His, Her
Interrogative Used in questions Which, What, Whose

Important Rules

  • An adjective describes a noun or pronoun.
  • It usually comes before the noun.
  • Some adjectives come after verbs like is, am, are, was, were.
  • One noun can have more than one adjective.
